HMD Global is expected to launch its longtime rumoured Nokia 9 alongside the advanced version on the Nokia 6, aka Nokia 6 (2018) on Jan 19 - although the timeline isn't yet confirmed by the company as of now. The Finnish company is reportedly also working on an enter-level smartphone, which is most likely to be Nokia 1. This phone -- as the reports suggest -- will be a part of Google's Android Go program.
To recall, Google India very recently announced the Android Go program and said that it will partner with a lot of smartphone manufacturers to launch a lot of Android Oreo Go Edition phones in 2018. Android Go is basically an operating system for devices with 512MB to 1GB of RAM. Having said that, Nokia 1 -- as per the leaked specs details may come with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage and will be priced lesser than the Nokia 2.
Not much is known about the upcoming Nokia 1 for now, apart from the fact that it will fall under the affordable smartphone category. As per a report by GizmoChina, Nokia 1 could be priced around 5,999 rubles, which roughly translates to Rs 6,667. Although there are no official words on the launch timeline of the phone, but rumours are that HMD Global may unveil the device in the first half of 2018.
Since Nokia 1 is said to be a part of Android Go program, it won't be wrong to say that the smartphone is imed at emerging markets such as India. Given that, chances are that the smartphone may be launched in India soon after the Global announcement.
Some specs details of the Nokia 1 are leaked. The smartphone is expected to come with an HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. We already know that it will be powered by the Android Go edition, and hence include 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. As of now, there are no details available regarding the processor. But possibilities are that the company may opt for either Qualcomm or MediaTek -- this is because both companies have announced their support for Android Oreo.
Meanwhile, HMD Global is also geraing up to launch few other smartphones including Nokia 9 and Nokia 6 (2017). Rumours are that the company may announce these phone on January 19 -- however HMD Global is yet to officially announce the same.
